You are being asked to make a festive wish this month (December, 2015) and help a children’s charity at the same time.

We are asking people to pop into the bar and write their wish on a cardboard star and hang it from a Christmas tree in return for a donation to Shooting Star Chase, who care for children with life-limiting conditions in London and Surrey.

We decided to place a Christmas wishing tree in the bar as we thought it would be a great way to raise money for charity at this very special time of year when giving is the most important thing.

People are able to come into the bar, write their wishes on a card star and make a donation of no less than a £1. Their star can then be hung on the tree in return for the donation to Shooting Star Chase Children’s Hospice Care.

We decided to raise money for this worthy and local cause because of the wonderful work it does. Shooting Star Chase is a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, in the area.

The charity has two hospices: Shooting Star House in Hampton and Christopher’s in Guildford.

A representative for the charity, Kate Law, Community Fundraiser, said: “Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, we are here to make every moment count. We support families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.

“Our bespoke support is free of charge to families and available 365 days a year. Our care service includes short breaks at our two hospices, Hospice at Home, day care, symptom management, end-of-life care, bereavement care and a comprehensive range of therapies and support groups for the whole family.

“It costs £10 million a year just to maintain our current level of care. Around 10% of that income comes from government funding, so we rely on our supporters’ generosity to keep the service running.

What’s more, we know there are many more families desperate for our vital support, so it’s crucial we raise more funds to provide more care and we’re very grateful for the support we get from individuals and companies like Kokomo.”

You will be able to make wishes until Christmas Eve, December 24 and we will donate all of the money raised in January, 2016.

We’re looking forward to lots of you coming along to the bar and help us raise oodles of money for Shooting Star Chase. We also hope that everyone’s Christmas wishes come true!
